We are almost to the new year, and overall 2022 was a super year. When we look back on all we accomplished and learned we had many successes. This is a great time to set aside an hour or so of uninterrupted time to do a quick review of what you want to be different in 2023. Use this time to reflect and evaluate your goals to keep you moving towards the future you are creating for yourself. We can never predict exactly how the year will evolve, but having a general road map will keep you on track and it makes surprises along the way much easier to navigate.

Grinding of the Greens and Letting Go of the Lights

Recycle your Christmas trees, string lights, and Christmas lights now through Jan 15!

2 locations on Hilton Head Island:

  • Coligny Beach Parking (big paved lot on S. Forest Beach)
  • Old Gullah Flea Market Site (Hwy 278 and Chamberlain Dr. use tree recycling designated area)

When the grinding is complete, the town will give out free mulch from Jan. 17 to Jan. 23 or until all mulch has been claimed.

Lights will be collected and recycled by i2 Recycle. String Light Recycling is a partnership of The Town of Hilton Head, Beaufort County, i2 Recycling and The Outside Foundation.

Carrabba's Bread Dipping Oil

I was looking for an appetizer recipe the other day and came across this one. It really brought back so many memories of all the dozens of loaves of bread I ate at Carrabba's because their dipping oil is so good. It's been many years since Carrabba's closed on Hilton Head Island. I thought you may want a little memory refresher with this delicious and easy dip. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper 
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp granulated garlic (this is different from garlic powder)
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

There is nothing we love more in the winter than a toasty, crackling fire but our warm weather, flip-flop wearing paradise does not always cooperate. Icy weather is headed our way in the next couple of days, and we are gearing up for some firey evenings. In fact, we just had wood delivered today from Carolina Morning Firewood so we will be ready. We don’t get to use our fireplace as much as our cold weathered neighbors so when we do, it's a real treat. No fireplace? No problemo!
