Best Women’s Charity Group in Bluffton & Hilton Head? Inside 100 Women Giving Back to the Lowcountry

There’s something incredibly powerful about a room full of women who genuinely want to make a difference. Our recent gathering of at HogsHead Kitchen & Wine Bar in Moss Creek Village was exactly that kind of evening — meaningful, inspiring, energetic, and honestly… just really special.

We had a fantastic turnout, with nearly 50 women staying afterward for dinner, conversation, and connection. One of the best things about this organization has always been that while we come together to support local charities, we’ve also created genuine friendships and a true sense of community along the way.

At this gathering, members heard presentations from three incredibly worthy local nonprofits doing important work right here in the Lowcountry. With Memorial Day around the corner, one organization especially struck a chord with the room — Private Peppers.

Private Peppers supports recent graduates from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island who may not have family or friends present on graduation day. For many Marines, graduation is one of the proudest and most emotional days of their lives. Families arrive carrying signs, gifts, hugs, and excitement. But for some graduates, there’s no one waiting in the stands.

That’s where Private Peppers steps in.

The organization helps support recruits during the brief but emotional transition between civilian life and active military service — a window where there are surprisingly few support systems available. Through meals, encouragement, care packages, companionship, and simple acts of kindness, Private Peppers ensures these young Marines feel seen, celebrated, and supported on a day that should never feel lonely.

It’s hard not to be deeply moved by that mission.

At our March meeting, 100 Women Giving Back to the Lowcountry proudly donated $8,000 to Spirit of Sebastian, a local organization focused on addiction prevention, awareness, and recovery support. Reaching the $8,000 mark was a huge milestone for our group and honestly felt incredibly rewarding. Seeing what collective giving can accomplish in such a direct and immediate way reminds all of us why this organization matters so much.

Now, we’re hoping to do even more.

Currently, the organization has more than 80 members, and our goal is to reach 100 women this year — allowing us to donate a full $10,000 to local charities at each meeting.

And when you think about the impact that creates over time, it’s remarkable.

In just three years, has donated more than $150,000 to local nonprofits throughout Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Beaufort, and the surrounding Lowcountry communities.

For those unfamiliar with how the organization works, it’s beautifully simple. Six times a year, women gather together, hear from several nominated charities, and vote on which organization will receive that meeting’s donation. Each member contributes individually, and together those contributions create a substantial and immediate impact for local causes. It’s grassroots philanthropy in the best possible way — simple, meaningful, community-focused, and surprisingly fun.

The organization was co-founded by Allison Cobb and Natalie Burnside, both of whom are deeply passionate about supporting the Lowcountry community they call home. Over time, the organization has continued to evolve and strengthen, and recently adding Ginger Kennedy and Beth Angner to the Steering Committee has brought even more energy, support, and fresh perspective to the group. Expanding the leadership team has helped make the organization stronger and even more impactful moving forward.

We’re also excited to share that locations have already been finalized for our September and November 2026 meetings, along with January 2027. We are still working on securing a venue for July 2026, and more details on upcoming locations and dates will be shared soon.
