We are almost to the new year, and overall 2022 was a super year. When we look back on all we accomplished and learned we had many successes. This is a great time to set aside an hour or so of uninterrupted time to do a quick review of what you want to be different in 2023. Use this time to reflect and evaluate your goals to keep you moving towards the future you are creating for yourself. We can never predict exactly how the year will evolve, but having a general road map will keep you on track and it makes surprises along the way much easier to navigate.

Ask yourself the following questions:

REFLECT:

  • What have you accomplished over the past six months (goal related or not)?
  • What goals did you achieve or make progress on?
  • What are your 3 proudest accomplishments?
  • What goals were a challenge?
  • What opportunities did you take advantage of to learn new things?
  • What goals no longer feel relevant?
  • What mistakes did you make and what did you learn from those mistakes?
  • What areas of strength did you identify from accomplishing your goals?
  • What areas of weakness have you identified?

Once you are able to identify some of these reflected areas, you can then move forward with resetting yourself.

LOOKING FORWARD:

  • What are your top 3 goals for 2023?
  • What new skills would you like to develop?
  • What time management habits do you need to improve?
  • How will you motivate myself to stay focused on your goals?
  • What habits do you need to change?
  • What routine do you need to change or develop?

Doing these simple exercises will set you up for a dynamite 2023. We all experience “bumps in the road,” but creating some intentional goals will keep you on track when times times get tough and it keeps you smooth sailing towards success. Although none of us can ever plan for the future we can at least chart a path to follow and keep us moving in the right direction.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
