Hilton Head Island made the list! It ranked for U.S. News & World Report, and that is a BIG deal!

If you’re living in Moss Creek and a relative or friend wants to know the best option for lodging while visiting the Lowcountry, U.S. News and World Report has ranked the top 10 places to vacation. A local hotel was among the nation’s top places. High-end resort destinations now also rank among the best hotels, and Hilton Head Island is  included. The dream location recognized by US News and World Report was the Inn & Club at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island. Another South Carolina hotel, The Kiawah Island Golf Resort near Charleston, was also a winner. Kiawah’s vacation spot received the number 4 ranking.

U.S. News & World Report created the list after it studied accommodations across the country. It considered three categories for each property: past recognition, data from their travel review website Trip Advisor, and “hotel class”, also known as star ratings. The highest ratings are reserved for typically those experts and users who recognize exceptional quality. The Inn & Club at Harbour Town received the number 5 ranking for excellence and is located in Sea Pines. It is known for top notch hospitality and décor that gives a nod to its coastal setting. Visitors rave about the golf course views from their rooms. One expert remarked that you can stay in spaces “decorated with an inviting coastal palette that perfectly complements the Island’s charm.”

In addition to being named among the nation’s best hotels, the two South Carolina properties also earned top rankings in U.S. News & World Report’s resort earnings.

If your friend or acquaintance wants a perfect stay while visiting the Lowcountry, the Inn & Club at Harbour Town is your choice. I’m a little biased and would first offer my Moss Creek guest room as the initial first-class choice. The many amenities, excellent location, and natural beauty of Moss Creek is a 10 out of 10!

BUT...are Hilton Head Island beaches worth it?

The 12 miles of white sand beaches on Hilton Head Island are gorgeous, and the high season is typically April 1 to September 30.During the high season, lifeguards are placed strategically. These beaches on the Atlantic Ocean are rated as some of the finest in the country. With so many pristine stretches of sand, warm waters, and days filled with sunshine, its no surprise that Hilton Head Island is recognized as one of the most relaxing vacation destinations in the world. In fact, Hilton Head Island has been recognized as the number #1 island in the continental United States by Travel + Leisure magazine and Conde Nast Traveler for the past several years and was even ranked #2 in the world by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine in 2017.

Coligny Beach is clearly the most popular beach on Hilton Head Island with tons of free parking, easy access, and one will be welcomed by a creative and fun splash fountain. Every year between May and October sea turtles visit the beaches and lay around hundreds of nests each year. Sea Turtle Patrol volunteers work every morning and evening during the nesting season to protect the turtle nests and ensure the hatchings can make a safe journey from the beach to their ocean home. Hilton Head Island follows a strict lights-out policy during hatching season so baby turtles can make their way to the ocean from the nest by the light of the moon. Artificial light can sometimes confuse their journey. It is also important that beachgoers fill in holes in the sand so that baby turtles do not fall into holes while making their way to the water. Having the turtles nest on Hilton Head Island is such a privilege, and locals try to do all they can to help with survival. It is an amazing experience to wake up at dawn, walk the beach, and look for turtle tracks. If you’re really lucky, you can catch a mama turtle making her way to the water or even a nest hatching.

Bicycles, beach chairs, and other assorted gear can be rented and used on all of the beaches. Dogs are allowed freely at certain times of the year and during high season must follow stricter rules. Locals and vacationers love their pets.

All of the beaches on Hilton Head Island, from the ocean to the high water mark, are public however access in some cases is private. Most of the beaches are wheelchair accessible with mats.

Warning! A visit to one of the finest beaches in the world can result in unforgettable memories and an experience of tranquility.
