Appreciation and home equity are directly linked – as the value of a home increases, so does a homeowner’s equity. And with these recent gains, homeowners are witnessing their financial stability and well-being grow to record levels

In more good news for homeowners, the most recent Home Price Expectations Survey – a survey of a national panel of over one hundred economists, real estate experts, and investment and market strategists – forecasts home prices will continue appreciating over the next five years, adding to the record amount of equity homeowners have already gained over the past year. Below are the expected year-over-year…

Serious question – Can you fall in love with a community?

I think it is! Every time I see something on the market in Habersham...I want it for myself. Driving down streets dripping in Spanish moss, the famous oak-lined boulevard in the town center, restaurants and shops within walking/golf cart distance, built on the marsh and access to the river...all in one community. You feel like you've stepped into a Southern Living magazine when you drive through.

Then there's this house. GAH!

  • completely renovated and remodeled so you won't need to lift a finger
  • okay the black built-ins are simply gorgeous
  •  the interior trim details are a piece of art
  • the lightening is beautifully modern and classic at the same time
  • so many…

The market is tight as inventory is low, and there are many buyers circling to get into the game. Right now it's fair to say that we are knee deep a “Seller’s Market” in the South Carolina Lowcountry and that one needs to be very savvy in order to have their offer accepted.

There is an art to writing an offer and having a strong, knowledgeable Realtor makes all the difference. Coming in aggressively and locking down a property before multiple offers are presented usually lands you the best opportunity and the desired home. Dancing around the obvious might cause a purchaser to end up with their disappointing second choice.

  • Go in knowing your bottomline and where you are comfortable walking away from the transaction without any regrets. Don’t…

Historically low mortgage rates are a big motivator for homebuyers right now. In 2020 alone, rates hit new record-lows 16 times, and the trend continued into the early part of this year. Many hopeful homebuyers are now wondering if they should put their plans on hold and wait for the lowest rates imaginable. However, the reality is, acting sooner rather than later may be the actual win if you’re ready to buy a home.

According to Greg McBride, Chief Financial Analyst for Bankrate:

“As vaccines become more widely available and a return to normal starts to come into view, we’ll see mortgage rates bounce off the record lows.”

While only a slight increase in mortgage rates is projected for 2021, some experts believe they will start to rise.…

It’s been a big year for Drew and Jonathan Scott. They premiered their new HGTV show, “Celebrity IOU,” starred in Season 3 of their hit show “The Property Brothers: Forever Home,” and even have a new season of “Brother vs. Brother”—coming soon!

And while the brothers are always taking risks and trying out new styles, it’s clear that they have some go-to renovation tricks and style choices that give their projects that signature "Property Brothers" style.

1. They install two-tone kitchen cabinets

Drew and Jonathan love tying bold colors into their kitchen renovations—but they’re careful not to go overboard with too much of a good thing. That’s why they often choose two-tone cabinets.

Light-toned cabinets allow a kitchen to look…

Where people choose to live has traditionally been tied to where they work, a dynamic that through the past decade spurred extreme home value growth and an affordability crisis in coastal job centers. But the post-pandemic recovery could mitigate or even produce the opposite effect and drive a boom in secondary cities and exurbs, prompted not by a fear of density but by a seismic shift toward remote work.
