Feeling Down? Do a Good Deed, Study Says

If the pandemic and 2020 mayhem have you feeling blue, find ways to help others, whether through your business or personal interests. Helping other people can not only make you feel good, it also has the potential to improve your physical and mental health, according to new research published by the American Psychological Association.

However, not all good deeds are equally as beneficial to the giver, the study finds. The boost to your health depends on factors such as the type of giving, as well as the giver’s age, gender, and other demographic factors that may have an influence.

The study, appearing in the journal Psychological Bulletin, was compiled from a meta-analysis of 201 independent studies covering more than 198,000 participants.

New Flood Maps for Hilton Head Island

The Town of Hilton Head Island sent out a News Release this week with FEMA's new flood maps. You can search your address and see to what extent your property is at risk for flooding. 

The flood zone terminology has changed too. 

Zone X (formerly Zone C) – low-risk zone
Zone Shaded X (formerly Zone B) – moderate-risk zone (0.2% annual chance flood) Zone AO – areas of shallow flooding
Zone AE – high-risk zone (1% annual chance Flood)
Zone VE – coastal high-hazard zone

Chez Georges Bistro

???? New restaurant alert! ????

You’ve most likely been seeing your friends posts with pictures of their delicious looking food from Chez Georges Bistro & Bar. I’ve seen at least 3 in the past few days. French cuisine with a mix of Lowcountry. What could be better — right? They are open for dinner from 4:30 to 10pm on the south end of the island.

I think you need to head there for dinner this week! You deserve a night off of cooking. Disclaimer- The owners are old family friends. Our grandmothers were friends!
