Last week I was invited to a salad bar party which was absolute genius! I know it may sound weird at first but it was actually a lot of fun. The host provided different types of mixed lettuce to start off and made plates full of blackened chicken. Everyone that came was asked to bring their favorite salad topping and a bottle of wine. As the guests showed up, the kitchen counter became a collection of all things good! Some of the goodies that we added were: blackened chicken, steak, shrimp, bacon crumbles, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, sprouts, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, carrots, croutons, different cheeses, etc. You can make as healthy as you want or...not.

Give it a try! It's the perfect easy summer dinner and a great way to have everyone…

Serious question – Can you fall in love with a community?

I think it is! Every time I see something on the market in Habersham...I want it for myself. Driving down streets dripping in Spanish moss, the famous oak-lined boulevard in the town center, restaurants and shops within walking/golf cart distance, built on the marsh and access to the river...all in one community. Bottle trees are one of the many unique sights in the South. You'll spot them in areas that make up the old South, particularly in states like Georgia, Mississippi, the Carolinas, and Virginia.

As a Southern tradition, bottle trees are always made from blue glass bottles (these could be wine or beer bottles) one saves over the course of several years. The bottles are placed over the branches of a dead tree or rod that stick upright out of the ground.
